Tokkuri Sake Vessel by Yōkigama
This tokkuri sake vessel was made at Yōkigama, the ceramic workshop of artist Kimiko Tanaka.
Working in the blue and white Tobe-ware tradition of Ehime, Tanaka’s work stands out for the fine detail in her paint work.
Everything on the surface of her work is from Tanaka’s brush.
Tobe-ware in its modern form often harks to the motifs of the classic age of Japanese porcelain. In her Yōkigama work Tanaka has such patterns appear alongside brush strokes of deep blue.
This tokkuri can be paired with matching sake cups.
