Kyūsu Tea Pot by Tadao Nakata
This kyūsu style tea pot was made at the Nakata family pottery works in Kasama.
Shaped by hand it has the classic elements of a kyūsu, with a side handle, and a ceramic grill inside. The grill, spout and handle are all formed separately before being attached to the body of the pot as shaped on the wheel.
There are chisel achieved decorations on the surface of the work, and a high angle, quite chunky handle that fits well into the hand. A kyūsu allows for all the moisture to be poured out from the tea leaves, ready for another brew.
