Kita Hōki Shuro Brush by Nagaike Mingeiten
This brush is made from shuro palm sheath at the Nagaike Mingeiten shop. It is hard to image a more naturally produced brush than this, and the maker includes a partially handwritten note asking anyone to let him know if they ever see one like it. Nagaike Mingeiten is in the old centre of the town of Uchiko in the Ehime interior. Assembled by hand using locally sourced bamboo and palm tree material, the brush also has tie so it can be hung up.
The note from the maker is written out in Japanese, and includes typed English translation. There are care instructions, and advise that the brush is "good for Buddhist alters or keyboard of the PC and etc." At 40cm it is a good size to use on the table top or relatively small spaces, although there is a smaller size alternative available as well. As such perhaps, it is an ideal tool for a new generation of home workers, eating biscuits at their desk.
It weighs around 120 g.
