Kutani-ware Ceramic Rody Horse
An usual collaboration, Kutani-ware porcelain makers of Ishikawa have applied their skills to make a ceramic version of the Italian horse Rody of classic design.
A project co-ordinated by Kutani-Tousen, Rody has become a canvas for a variety of ceramic artists within the Kutani tradition, in this case Takayuki Hasegawa.
Hand painted and one of a kind, this is a serious horse.
Serious, but extremely cheerful.
We have two, available in blue and yellow colours.
The yellow Rody has a densely painted Peony saddle, while the blue design is decorated with a 'shochikubai' (pine, bamboo, plum) pattern and the character of good luck.
Each is presented in an individual wooden box.
They are 23 cm long, 8cm wide and 18cm high.
