Vintage Wooden 'Chataku' Plates
Vintage ‘chataku’ small plates of uncertain origin somewhere in Japan, and quite possibly originally used as stands for tea cups in a ryokan type traditional hotel.
We have four of them. Each of course is slightly different in the lines of the wood. Thinly carved, there are plenty of possible applications, including to hold a tea cup or Japanese style yunomi. They can also make attractive small plates, or miniature storage.
12cm in diameter, they are 2cm high. The middle circles are around 5cm in diameter.
They weigh 20g.
