About wholesale
These small pots are miniature (‘chibi’) versions of the tagines made by Mie based Nagatani-en.
While not suitable for cooking use themselves, they borrow the form of the Nagatani-en’s tagine range, and are ideal as a serving containers for spices or seasonings.
A small opening allows for the insertion of a spoon, supplied together with the pots. This can also rest on the divot on the lid.
The pots are 7cm in diameter, and around 5cm high.
About Nagatani-en
The ceramic region of Iga in modern day Mie prefecture has a long association with donabe cooking pots. This drew on the clay from the bed of the Biwa lake, which has a special resistance to heat. The donabe tradition is maintained today, with Nagatani-en leading practitioners in the craft manufacture of the pots. These are presented in classic form, or with some adaptions to modern lifestyles. What is unchanged is the heat retention, and homespun warmth of the vessels, that can be the centre piece of a table and of communal life.
