As part of wagumi’s partnership with Atelier Densan we will present exclusive workshops with nationally recognised lacquerware craftsperson Kumiko Tanioka.

Kumiko works in the Kishu lacquerware tradition of Wakayama in central Japan, and holds the prestigious government backed Densan designation.

During the workshops participants will be able to work on a half moon shaped tray in black or red to create your own decoration (or using a sample illustration).  Kumiko Tanioka will then demonstrate how to brush onto traditional lacquer and apply metal powder in a process somewhat similar to kintsugi.

The workshops will take place in the Oxo Tower gallery (on the floor below wagumi) on 26th-29th November.

Each Session can take up 8 attendees.
