About wholesale
These knives were hand forged in Kagoshima, and are intended for use as a first knife for children.
To be used with adult guidance, they bring children into the kitchen, and provide them with a traditionally made Japanese knife that will last a lifetime.
The knives are circular at their ends, and have a space to insert the finger at the base of the blade to prevent slippages.
A blunt knife for chopping is of course more dangerous than a sharp one, and these ones do cut well. Therefore they are not recommended for very young children, or for use without supervision.
An item that exists from a centuries old tradition in blacksmith work - they allow young chefs to start as they mean to go on.
As each is made individually, the sizes vary slightly - but are around 23cm long including the handle and blade. The blade is around 9cm.
The cases are made individually to fit the size of each knife.
They can only be purchased by over 18s.About Fukamizu Hamano
Founded in 1953 in the Usuki area of Kagoshima city, Fukamizu Hamano practice the traditional method of Japanese knife manufacture. Each blade is forged, quenched, tempered and sharpened by hand. The forms are determined by the instinct and experiences of the craftspeople that make them. The firm was recognised in 1995 as a practitioner of traditional craft within Kagoshima.
