About wholesale
These glass cups were made at Glass Studio Hiro by Heijin Yaga, in central Okinawa. At his studio, Yaga works with his material, and works with light. An important figure in Okinawan glass, active in the local trade association, in his own space his ideas and focus are on refracting light through colour. Trained first at a stained glass works, and then under glass master Seikichi Inamine, he seeks to craft spectral moments in the glass that he blows Dedicated to maintaining the Ryukyu glass tradition of Okinawa, Heijin Yaga’s personal world is one of gentle discovery. These glasses are in Yaga’s bubble series, in which he twists and maintains pockets of air in the material to create beads of refracted light. Each reflects their own moment of creation, and varies in size. But as a guide, they are around 8cm in diameter and about 9.5cm high. They weigh approximately 300g.
