Earth Bell by Mishio Suzuki
These ceramic bells were made in her studio near Kasama by Mishio Suzuki.
Part of her ‘laur’ series of ceramic works, the green central colour was inspired by forest dew that Suzuki saw on a trip to Ireland. Influenced by her travels and her surroundings, Mishio Suzuki’s ceramics have warmth and originality.
Making a satisfying sound, the bells are nice objects to own.
They have a diameter of 4.5cm, and a height of 5cm
As each item is handmade, there may be small differences between them.
About Mishio Suzuki
Mishio Suzuki is a potter based near Kasama, a town known for its ceramic history north of Tokyo.
She was inspired initially by German and European product design.
But by travelling in Europe she came to appreciate more the pottery tradition in her own region of Kasama.
Carrying with her the diverse range of influences she acquired, Suzuki trained with the Kasama master potter Akio Nukaga, before establishing her own kiln in 2006.
Her pieces balance a sense of nature, with a modern elegance.
