About wholesale
The Tomita dye works specialise in the Edo Komon pattern of 19th century Tokyo. A family firm now in its fifth generation - they work in kimono silk, and produce patterns that once adorned the traditional wear of the Samurai class. The dye techniques are largely unchanged since that era, as are the quality of the results. Japanese silks were known (and are still known) as some of the finest in the world, and were a prized commodity for export. On these handkerchiefs the dense Edo Komon pattern is realised together with colourful motifs, with a wonderful hand crafted quality to its finish. The style of old Edo (modern day Tokyo), appears in a new context.
