The towels were made in the Senshu towel region of south Osaka, by the Fukuroya company.

They are presented in a box patterned, waffle style and are from the family firm’s ‘Washi-Matou’ range.  Washi is the soft form of Japanese paper made with mulberry fibres, and it has been woven into the fabric here, to create a special softness.

The calming texture is complemented by the simple navy and pale white shades.

These are the face towel size, and are 34cm by 85cm.  A hand towel size is also available.

About Fukuroya Towel

The Fukuroya towel company is a small family firm based in the towel making district of Senshu in south Osaka.  Senshu is one of Japan’s two principal towel making regions, and the soft texture of its weaves is a source of pride.  The Fukuroya family have been making towels there since in 1926, and their small factory functions as a laboratory for innovation and quality.  They have sought to advance concepts of sustainability through the use of recycled food materials in dyes, and craft, by incorporating soft washi paper into the towel fabrics.  They say that nothing brings greater happiness to the towel maker, than quality and colour delivered to the user.
