About wholesale
This pitcher was made by ceramicist Mishio Suzuki at her workshop in Kasama.Of this series of work, Suzuki states that it is a departure from her more western inspired ceramics, to touch on a natural motif important in Japan: bamboo. This is true of its form, and the misty, textural glaze achieved on its surface. The pitcher is 6.5cm in diameter, and 8cm high.As each piece is handmade there can be some differences between them.About Mishio SuzukiThe ceramics of Mishio Suzuki are based on a curiosity, and an open-minded exploration of form. Interested initially in German product design, time spent living there allowed Suzuki to notice the richness of her home region’s ceramic tradition. On returning to Kasama she entered a period of ceramic training, some of it as an apprentice at the kiln of master potter Akio Nukaga. Now with her own kiln, which is housed in the expanding workshop at the bottom of her garden, she embarks on ceramic journeys. Inspired by nature she sees locally, or by the colours she saw on her travels, Suzuki works across a range of influences and ideas. In outcome, this can mean the blueish white lattice of her ‘lux ‘series, the rich chocolates of ‘birch’, the forest dew-like soft green of ‘laur’ and much more besides.
