Edo Kiriko Shimizu Glass Guinomi : Camellia

Edo Kiriko is the cut glass style of Tokyo.  In its traditional world of small workshops, the Shimizu Glass company is unique in several respects.  Firstly it is led by a woman, Michiyo Shimizu.  The team that Shimizu has built in her workshop has a balance of tremendous experience (the lead craftsman has been working sixty years in the field), and opportunities for young people seeking to renew the tradition.  

Shimizu Glass is known more than anything for the quality of its production, with these glass designs a good example.

Inspired by the shapes of Camellia and Grass, the cut is delicate and expressive.
