Kanazawa is the castle town of Ishikawa in north central Japan. It is known for its fine crafts, and among them its sewing kits.

Hiro is a small garment maker in the town, passing through the generations for more than 80 years.

With a total of five employees, they now specialise in sewing accessories that show off various aspects of Kanazawa__þs craft tradition, including lacquerware, yuzen dye and painted porcelain ceramics.

This small sewing set is presented in a__Paulownia wood box. __In Japanese hedgehogs are known as harinezumi, literally speaking 'pin mice'. __In this set the hedgehog fully takes on this identity, acting as the pin cushion. __The box also contains small scissors, needles and thread.

It is 8cm x 6cm, and 5cm high.
