Magnolia Cup by Mishio Suzuki

These magnolia shaped cups are by Mishio Suzuki.   Beneath their white upper section, they show a soft blue glaze colour.  Sculpted, and pleasing to hold, the pieces combine texture and colour.

As each piece is handmade, there are small differences between them.

These cups are 9cm high, with a diameter of 8.5cm.  They weigh 190g.

About Mishio Suzuki

Mishio Suzuki is a potter based near Kasama, a town known for its ceramic history north of Tokyo.

She was inspired initially by German and European product design.  But by travelling in Europe  came to appreciate more the pottery tradition in her own region of Kasama.

Carrying with her the diverse range of influences she acquired, Suzuki trained with the Kasama master potter Akio Nukaga, before establishing her own kiln in 2006. Her pieces balance a sense of nature, with a modern elegance.
