These small towels are by Hartwell, a maker in Imabari, Japan. The town of Imabari in Ehime is known as centre of towel production, and for its dedication to ever softer and high quality examples of their work.
They are available two types, either with a hickory type striped pattern, or made to recall denim on its surface. In both cases they have a distinctive Imabari softness to the touch.
Hartwell were founded in 1930, and are among the many Imabari towel companies that seek to outdo each other with innovation and improvements in making. The companies recognised as authentic Imabari based producers carry the blue, red and white circle Imabari logo - which is known in Japan as a mark of quality.
The towels are 25cm x 25cm when opened.
