Originally from New Zealand, long term Okinawa resident Paul Lorimer is in some ways its most traditional potter. His work focusses on its base material: the clay found on the Okinawan islands. The search for good clay is a constant preoccupation. It can be found in construction sites, or in locations of varying accessibility. But the results of this search, thrown and then fired in a self constructed anagama kiln, make it worthwhile.
